Women in Africa are women who were born in, who live in, and are from the continent of Africa. The culture, evolution and history of African women is related to the evolution and history of the African continent itself. They come from sovereign states in Africa that include women from Algeria, Angola, Benin, Botswana, Burkina Faso, Burundi, Cameroon, Cape Verde, Central African Republic, Chad, Comoros, Democratic Republic of the Congo, Republic of the Congo, Djibouti, Egypt, Equatorial Guinea, Eritrea, Ethiopia, Gabon, The Gambia, Ghana, Guinea, Guinea-Bissau, Ivory Coast (Côte d'Ivoire), Kenya, Lesotho, Liberia, Libya, Madagascar, Malawi, Mali, Mauritania, Mauritius, Morocco, Mozambique, Namibia, Niger, Nigeria, Rwanda, São Tomé and Príncipe, Senegal, Seychelles, Sierra Leone, Somalia, South Africa, South Sudan, Sudan, Swaziland, Tanzania, Togo, Tunisia, Uganda, Zambia, Western Sahara and Zimbabwe. Other African women come from states with limited recognition internationally such as the Sahrawi Arab Democratic Republic. Other women of Africa come from dependencies and territories of European countries like Spain, Portugal, France, and the United Kingdom. Women from dependencies and overseas territories of Spain include women from the Canary Islands, Ceuta, Melilla, and Women in Plazas de soberanía. Women from dependencies and overseas territories of Portugal include women from Madeira. Women who come from dependencies and overseas territories of France include women from Mayotte, Réunion. While those women who are from dependencies and territories of the United Kingdom are from Saint Helena, Ascension Island, and Tristan da Cunha. == Algeria == (詳細はAlgerian War of Independence, Algerian women fought as equals alongside men. They thus achieved a new sense of their own identity and a measure of acceptance from men. In the aftermath of the war, women maintained their new-found emancipation and became more actively involved in the development of the new state. Algeria is regarded as a relatively liberal nation and the status of women reflects this. Unlike other countries in the region, equality for women is enshrined in Algerian laws and the constitution.〔 They can vote and run for political positions.
